Anchor Design and Construction
Project Manager – Iain Haycock (100% tenure)
Following on from the successful completion of the Wind Farm at Butoni Fiji, McMillan Pacific were selected as the preferred subcontractor to Vergnet forthe Pacific region. In March 2008, McMillan Pacific were successful in tendering to design and construct the anchored foundations for the UNELCO Wind Farm turbines at Devils Point Fiji (10 Turbines).
Similar to the Butoni Wind Farm in Fiji, the aim of the project was to provide another source of electricity other than diesel generation. At the time of the project Port Vila was 100% reliant on diesel for electricity generation and electricity prices at least 5-10 times that of New Zealand.
The ground anchor design was undertaken by McMillan Pacific personnel in very challenging ground conditions (highly voided Coral based Limestone). Anchor holes were drilled at 150NB to depths of between 6 and 8mbgl. In total 100 anchors were constructed over a period of 5 weeks. This contract was completed successfully, on time and within budget.

Project Manager – Lyell McMillan (100% tenure)
McMillan Pacific were successful in tendering for the drilling of a number of water supply bores for this project. Bores were required for both passive artesian flows into a resort lake and for irrigation supply pruposes. Through careful bore construction some relatively high yielding bores (15L/s) were secured.
