McMillan SDS was contracted to drill 4 x 100m deep at 150mm diameter bores, assist with loop installation, and conduct the loop grouting for a new house being built on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The project also had limited access, and the upper 6-12m of the ground encountered was free running gravel with vast quantities of ground water that required temporary casing to be installed. The free gravel encountered involved modification of the grout mixture for the upper portion of the bores to prevent excessive wastage to the surrounding ground. We selected out HD180 twin rotary rig for the contract, and successfully completed the contract on time and budget.

This installation involved the use of copper tubes with refrigerant; additionally the grouting mix required for this application involved a high porportion of silica sand. We selected out HD180 twin rotary rig for the contract, and successfully completed the contract on time and budget.
